Join BBA

The Benjamin Banneker Association, an equity affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), is dedicated to empowering Black children by actively pursuing effective solutions to the challenges hindering their access to equal opportunities in mathematics education and achievement.

Since our founding in 1986, our organization has been dedicated to mathematics education advocacy, establishing a presence for leadership, and professional development to support teachers in leveling the playing field for mathematics learning of the highest quality for Black students. Membership is open to all who share this interest.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP

Annual membership dues are $30, with discounts for multi-year membership ($54 for two years, and $80 for three years)..

  • Opportunities for members to lead professional development via BBA’s website/in person engagements (NCTM, NCSM, AMTE, etc)

  • Priority consideration for BBA Conference Strand for NCTM and NCSM

  • Access to high quality professional development on best practices

  • Participate in an active learning community within your region and BBA organization

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP $250

Any school or organization

  • Full access to all individual membership benefits on the BBA Members Site

  • Provides additional resources to support your institution’s mission/vision

  • Networking with other institutions around the advancement of black children in mathematics

  • Provide opportunities for members to lead professional development via BBA’s website/in person engagements (NCTM, NCSM, AMTE, NABSE etc)

  • Participate in an active learning community within your region and BBA organization

 

Dues are $250 annually.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP $15

Individuals enrolled in a full time  program of study at a college/university.

  • Full access to all individual membership benefits via the BBA Members Site

  • Access to high quality professional development on best practices

  • Participate in an active learning community within your region and BBA organization

  • Opportunity to network with professors for graduate work

       

       Dues are $15 annually.

GOLD LIFETIME $500

Individuals may become eligible for Lifetime Membership in the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. if they are retired mathematics educators who have paid dues for the last five consecutive years.

Gold lifetime membership is $500 and are paid only once.  As a gold lifetime member you'll receive the following benefits.

  • Provide opportunities for members to lead professional development via BBA’s website/in person engagements (NCTM, NCSM, AMTE, etc.)

  • Having a lasting impact on the future of our black children in mathematics

  • Participate in an active learning community within your region and BBA organization

  • your name will be published on the BBA national website and in every Annual Meeting Program. 

  • Gold lifetime membership includes free admission to annual BBA events and an honorary plaque (presented at the Annual Meeting).

SILVER LIFETIME $250

Individuals may become eligible for Lifetime Membership in the Benjamin Banneker Association, Inc. if they are retired mathematics educators who have paid dues for the last five consecutive years.

Silver lifetime membership is $250 and are paid only once.  As a gold lifetime member you'll receive the following benefits.

BBA STUDENT GROUPS $50

We support K-12 student affiliate groups which we call Benjamin Banneker Association Student Groups. Dues for student affiliate groups are $50 annually, and includes a 1-year membership for the student advisor.
